At looong last, the post-production crew came through and finished our little movie that we made back here for K's birthday. The truth of it, though, is that the original crew (me) didn't really have a clue what she was doing and totally ran out of steam and let the project gather dust.
And then Aunt N flew through town, trailing clouds of creativity and tenacity. She just so happens to love getting lost in a project, so I happily tranferred the film to her care. And, wow, it turned out about a million times better than if I had done it. First, because I probably would never have finished it. Second, she has this huge library of very cool sound effects and music. Third, she knows what she's doing with this video editing stuff.
It was a little tricky figuring out that we didn't have the right kind of DVDs, but after that frustration, everything worked out wonderfully.
We planned a little movie screening party, complete with a cake that K made.
Along with entrance tickets that she faithfully handed out and checked before the movie started.
It was a little bittersweet. These girls have been such great friends over the years. They've celebrated birthdays and milestones, slept at each other's houses, and simply been the best that you could ask for in friends. We will miss them terribly.
Movie stars with attitude.
Everybody even got to take home a copy of the movie to enjoy with their families, which included a blooper reel done entirely by K and a little short film created by Aunt N. Which is simply too fabulous not to share.
It was such a treat to watch the finished product with the girls. All that laughter did us good! And this beautiful, creative soul made this project's completion possible. It makes me smile to think that we will be living 3000 miles closer to her. Oh, what fun we will have!
